Updates and Gratitude from Rainbow Hill Studio
Rainbow Hill Studio provided a charming and *mostly* functional home for the creation of wonderful mosaics by many amazing people this year. I want to take an opportunity to share my gratitude for everyone who came here to take a class, adding to the magic and warmth of the community. It has been such an honor and thrill to be teaching this craft that I love, once again, in this new space. Here are a few photos of student work, with many more at the bottom of this post.
There were students who came weekly to work on larger and more in-depth projects, as well as students who came for one-day stepping stone classes. We even held an extended day event with a stepping stone workshop followed by a bonfire and then a Mediterranean feast, cooked by my husband Bill.
I had an opportunity to make some work of my own, as well as some commissioned work for a client’s bathroom.
And now I am excited to share that, for the past month, the studio has been under construction. If you were here, you know that there was no insulation or heat. Thankfully we had a very warm fall season, but it got a little chilly in there for the last few weeks of class! We have undertaken the big job of winterizing this small and cozy space. It should be finished before the year ends, and I will be able to get everything set up once again, so I can get back in there and plan some workshops for the spring. When the studio is looking all shiny and new, I’ll share more photos. Right now, it is in the gloriously messy metamorphosis phase (and I’m practicing being patient 🙂
Finally, I wanted to share that, while I have been on a forced break from my studio and teaching, I have been taking a deep dive into some spiritual work that is shaping the way my art, teaching and mentorship practice look. I am working on a vulnerale piece of writing that I look forward to sharing with you soon. Please watch for another email in the next couple of weeks.
Wishing you all a beautiful holiday season, and I hope to see you in 2025.
Enjoy the following images of students mosaic work from the past few months. There’s such a range of perspectives and styles and each piece represents so much learning.
Blessings and Love,
Christine
