Printmaking with Plants- July 20

By Published On: April 1, 2024

Midsummer is alive and abundant in nature, with many plants reaching their peak growth and offering us beauty and inspiration. We’ll begin with a guided meditation, to connect our own inner light with the light and beauty all around us. With reverence, we will harvest some of the flowers and foliage in the garden and surrounding yard to preserve their beauty and essence using several printmaking techniques.

To celebrate and align with the abundant light present on this point in the earth’s cycle, we will join together and create luminous (and entirely compostable!) suncatchers.

Printmaking Techniques covered in this workshop:

  • We will impress flowers and leaves into slabs of air dry clay, which can be painted at home, once they are dry.
  • We will select certain flowers and leaves for “flower pounding” into paper.
  • We will make prints onto paper and fabric using acrylic paint.
  • Cost is $85, including all materials.

As we do this work, we will honor the spirits of the plants with gratitude for the ways they will continue to nourish us throughout the winter season, as they live on in our co-creations. A flower essence will be made during this class and each person will receive a bottle.

The last hour of class, we will work together to create a glorious plant mandala on the lawn as an offering to the spirits of the plants.
