Mosaics in the Indirect Method

By Published On: July 24, 2024

Explore the magic of mosaics! This workshop series is open to both beginner and intermediate level. I will work with each person to support in the process of composing your subject and building your skills. As you create your mosaic from bits of glass, tile, crockery and found objects, you will build skills of observation and interpretation, of patterns, shapes, movement and energy that all work together to give life and personality to your work. There will be a focus on building skills for cutting the various materials using hand tools. Working in the indirect method allows for us to make changes to the arrangement of pieces throughout the process, and the entire composition gets adhered to the permanent surface at the end. Mosaics will be 8” x 10” and your mosaic will be equipped with hardware to hang it on the wall, or you may bring your own frame.

Class will be small to allow for a lot of individualized instruction.

Students may sign up for one 4 week series or both.
