Mosaic Quilts Workshop
Quilts and mosaics share a beautiful common thread—they both take individual pieces and transform them into something greater than the sum of its parts. They both have deep historical roots in many cultures, often symbolizing community, heritage, craftsmanship, and artistic expression.

This six week workshop will be a fusion of these two dynamic art forms. Your “quilt” will be made from glass, tiles, bits of china and crockery and can contain your own stories and memories. You can even bring some of your own broken treasures to include, to personalize it even further. Starting with an exploration of some of the many patterns found in quilts, you will select a pattern and put together a unique palette of materials. Instruction will be given on the use of hand tools for cutting different objects, and there will be a lot of discussion about how to arrange your small bits (called tesserae) to tell the story you want. Working in the indirect method on sticky mesh, you will assemble your quilt piece by piece, with the freedom to make changes as you go. Finished mosaics will be 12” x 12”.
Cost: $365, including all materials
