Mosaic House Numbers

This is your chance to make a customized work of art that identifies your address and also makes a statement about your home and the people that live there.

Depending on where the mosaic will be displayed, how it will be attached, etc, I will work with each person ahead of time to come up with a plan to address the technical issues and make sure your mosaic is weather-proof. Then, the sky is the limit when it comes to the way you personalize your house number. We will work with design, value and contrast to make sure your number reads well from a distance. You’ll have the opportunity to incorporate elements from the style of your house and the surrounding area.

This workshop meets on the following Thursdays:

September 19, 26, October 3, 10, 17, 24

Time: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.

Components of this Workshop:

We’ll discuss the message or story that your mosaic is going to tell about you and your home, and you’ll learn how to use design elements to achieve this.
You’ll learn skills for safely cutting glass using hand tools.
You’ll learn how to work in the indirect method, a process where pieces are laid on a temporary substrate and can be reworked until it’s complete. Then, the whole mosaic gets adhered to your permanent substrate using thinset mortar.
You’ll become a proud owner of an original work of art to display on the outside of your home, that serves a function, in addition to being beautiful and decorative.
